Labradorite
Labradorite or Black Moonstone is the plagioclase feldspar ad in the same family as Albite. It has been found in meteorites.
There is a blue semi-transparent variety called Spectrolite that is only found in Finland during WWII,and it is also called Falcon’s eye.Origin-: Discovered on ST. Paul Island, Labrador , Canada in 1770.
Color-: Grey, Brown, Greenish-Blue, Yellow with Iridescent purple, Blue, Green, Red and Gold Flashes.
Streak-: White.
Hardness-: 6 Mohs scale with a triclinic crystal structure.
Luster-: Dull to vitreous.
Transparency-: Transparent to translucent.
Form-: It may be cut, Cabochon, beaded and checker cut.
Zodiac Sign-: Sagittarius, Scorpio and Leo with its shimmering play of colors it symbolises fantasy and creativity.
Occurrence-: Labrador Peninsula in Canada, Norway, Madagascar and the former USSR.
